Game plan

If you live in New York City, or you are any sort of fashion follower--from the obsessive style blog browser to the occasional Vogue peruser--it has been hard to miss the hype about the 2nd annual Fashion's Night Out, this Friday, September 10. There are approximately 300,000 in-store events here in the center of the universe and additional parties across the country and the globe. It's a lot to take in and a tough schedule to navigate.

Here's my plan: I work in Midtown, and as much as I'd love Mary Kate to serve me a watery Cosmo at Barneys, I can't be bothered with the lines, so I'll start with a quick, early swing through the major 5th & Madison flagships to get a nice Champagne buzz going and perhaps a few bites of cheese to power me through the night. Last year I stopped by Burberry, Bally, Calvin, Chanel, Dior, DKNY, etc. - a great start to the festivities without too much of the crowds. This year I plan to add Versace for a martini and Cavalli for some beats by my girl Solange to the lineup. I'll also stop by Gap to pick up one of Lauren Bush's special FNO FEED bags (pictured above). I'm thinking it might really be about a denim bucket bag for fall, no? And shopping on FNO is quite the fun and novel idea! I always give an honest try to do what Anna tells me.

After a good 8 or so flutes, I'll be heading downtown, of course. I've been needing to refill my Ultra Facial Moisturizer (a NYFW essential!), so I plan to do some more actual shopping at the Kiehl's party on 3rd Ave and then pop into Billy Reid on Bond St. for a bourbon. Next stop, SoHo: a quick Manhattan (one of my fave cocktails) at Elie Tahari and a glimpse of ALT at Ralph Lauren on West Broadway, the Mercer Street block party hosted by 3.1 Phillip Lim and Rag & Bone, and then Derek Lam on Crosby Street for more champagne with Maryna Linchuk and the DL gang. Finally, I'll wrap things up at my dear friend Blake's store, Ferality Show, fortunately just a block from my bed!

  1. FNO is so overwhelming, but alas, I have to scan the list of a million stores and plan my path as well. I def need some Solo action and would love to run into you at Ferality. let's bbm, yes.
